Beach bum for a day « Thread Started on Aug 2, 2008, 3:20pm »
Eurick stared up at the imposing structure of solid stone that was his father's palace, raising an arm lazily to shield his eyes from the glare of the sun, his face flushing a bit with guilt. At that moment he was probably supposed to be training in the courtyards or listening to the Advisers babble on and on about unimportant affairs. Instead, he'd sneaked out at the crack of dawn and spent nearly half his day wandering around the beach, watching the waves crash in and out with the tide, swimming over reefs that teamed with colorful fish, and teasing the sea gulls. He wasn't usually so aloof but he'd desparately needed a day to himself. Not that he expected anyone to really understand. Nothing he could say would be good enough to excuse his absence in his father's eyes, but for the moment he didn't care. It was good to be free, if only for a day.

Eragon had passed out hours ago on Saphira's back and she was flying trying to found someone to help her Rider. She had small wounds, but Eragon had three arrows going right through his shoulder and a deep cut on his leg. He also most likly had a broken leg too and that was when she noticed the human on a sandy Beach. Saphair flow quickly as to land in some near by woods and saw that Eragn was bleeding bad, for she had his blood rolling down her side. She limped out from the woods and looked at the human with beautiful sapphire eyes that had worry in them. Saphira limped over to the human and lowed herself to the ground, which in turn made one of Eragons arms fall over the side of his Saddle. The arm that fell was the very one that had the three arrows in it and he groaned in pain from the sudden movement of his injury. Eragon had other wounds that weren't that bad, but still need to be cared for.

"Well, so much for a free day," Eurick muttered with a sigh, when he saw the dragon and the rider, both apparently wounded from some kind of fight. Crouching down, he scooped up a handful of sand and let it sift through his fist, whispering the words his old tutor, Tor, had taught him.
The sand seemed to catch on the wind, billowing in a gentle spiral with a soft hiss as a light breeze picked up more and more grains, until the figure of a woman made entirely of blackened glass stood among the torrent. For a moment the woman was still as the statue she appeared to be, but only for a moment. With a sharp, banshee like scream, her eyelids flew open, revealing only empty pools of white light, rather than actual eyes.
If Eurick was surprised at all by what he had created, he didn't show it. He simply waited for the Glass Woman to settle into her new found existence in his world and then commanded her attention.
"Please, fetch Tor." He said firmly, staring at the Glass Woman with weary eyes. "Tell him of what you see here and that he is needed."
The Glass Woman stared at him for a moment, her gaze cold and begrudging. Then with another unearthly scream, she turned into a handful of sand and flew away on a sudden gust of wind.
Eurick turned to the dragon and introduced himself, leaving out the part about his being the Crown Prince of Ocean Gate. It hardly seemed necessary, even if the Council would say otherwise. "Tor is skilled with healing, well beyond any other mortal for miles around. He should arrive shortly, but is there anyway I can help you make your rider more comfortable?"

Saphira hissed when she realized that the human was a magic user and that he'd make some thing that screamed as if in pain. Saphira growled at the thing that looked like a woman and eye'd it not knowing if it would attack them and was only realived when it left. Her sapphire blue eyes gazed at the human who had told the woman made of black glass to get someone. Saphira listened as he told her his name and that the person who he told that thing to get was the best healer they had in all this lands.
She growled at first when he came near her, but she stayed crouched to the ground and was confused to why a magic user would want to help them. She puffed smoke from her nose and at hearing "but is there anyway I can help you make your rider more comfortable?" she hear the human mage ask. She puffed more smoke out of her nose and glared at him "his fine where he is" she said in a tired tone. Saphira had thought she found someone to trust with the care of her Rider, but he was a mage and they could do anything, he could even be with the Evil King. She wasn't going to let them catch Eragon while he was in his weak state.

"Alright," Eurick replied, trying to sound soothing, "Sorry I can't be of more use. I'm afraid I only know the one spell."
He smiled, rubbing the back of his neck with embarrassment, "The other spells were too difficult for me, I guess. Tor said they were far beyond normal magic but I still feel like I should have mastered them." He sighed, "But my parents found out before I could learn any more. "
He glanced up at the dragon's massive face, looking the beast right in the eye. "Might I ask what happened?"

Saphira looked the man in the eye and for some reason the blue female felt that she could trust this man. She listened to him still in a protective crouch with Eragon on her back and was a bit surprised to hear that the male hadn't learned everything he wanted to. She was also wanting to know why he was only able to use that one spell and then he asked what had happen "the Empire attacked while I was gone hunting and I only returned in time to fight off the man who were tieing my Rider up. The didn't even think to take the arrows out of his soulder or to care for his wounds" said the blue female with a hiss. She told some of their story and to why her rider was in such bad shape. Saphira turned her head to look at Eragon who was still un-conscious. She then looked away and back at Eurick with a look that said she was thinking of something over "Please, take him out of the saddle Eurick and do what you can to make him more confortable please" she said with a look of concern for her Rider.

"Uh, sure," Eurick replied, moving hesitantly around the dragon's side toward the rider. Though he'd been trained exclusively how to treat dragons, or fight them if need be, he wasn't exactly used to being around them. Infantile as he knew the thought was, he found himself mentally running the motions of what to do if the beast suddenly tried to eat him.
"I think it'd be best if I removed the arrows first..." He said after checking the rider, glancing up at the dragon for approval.

Saphira let Eurick climb up on her side until he was right next to her saddle where Eragon was and she watched Eurick as he observed Eragon's wounds. She listened as he told her that it would be best that he removed the three arrows from Eragons shoulder and to her surprise, he was waiting for her approval. Saphira looked at Eragon for a moment and saw that his face showed how much pain they were doing while still in his flesh "go ahead" was all she said in asnwer to Eurick's needed approval. She went in her rider's mind and was going to do everything she could to block the pain from his un-conscious mind "Little one, I've found someone to take this damn arrows out of you and to care for your wounds" she said to her rider. Saphira felt something brush her mind and looked at her rider as if it was him who brushed her mind "Sa....Sap.....Saphira, I feel so weak" Eragon told Saphira with their bond. Saphira nodded and looked back at Eurick with a look of concern. She then saw the blood that was from her Rider and a large tear of worry dripped down her cheek. This one tear made a small puddle in the sand and she looked at it for a moment. Her worry was clear to see and she couldn't hide it, even from this human she just met.

"He'll be fine," Eurick said confidently, seeing the dragon's concern, "Tor may have fallen out of favor around here but you'll never find better healer... at least not a human one."
Then he turned back to the wounded rider. Carefully, he reached out and grabbed the shaft of an arrow firmly in his hand and removed it in one swift movement then he moved on to the others. He had just finished when a form swamped in cloth came running down the beach.

Saphira watched as Eurick removed all three arrows and hear Eragon groan in pain as they were taken out. She saw more blood flow from the wounds that the arrows left behind and that was when she realized that someone had came to the beach in a thick close. Saphira let out a low growl and glared at the whom it was that came near thenm. She stayed as still as she could with Eurick still on her side and holding Eragon on her. She didn't know that this was Eurick's healer friend and so took up a protective position without moving. Saphira kept herself between the person and Eragon, along with Eurick. She would protect them both if she had too and well being that she didn't know Tor, she growled at the person.

Tor limped as quickly as he could across the sand, the Glass entity weaving impatiently around and around him as he moved. This day just keeps getting better and better... he thought irritably. His leg had been bothering him all day, which probably meant a storm was coming. Today is going to be bad enough without people falling half dead from the sky.
A sharp wind had picked up, cutting through his heavy robes with a shock of heat and a roaring sound that about deafened him. Then he looked up. It wasn't wind...
Tor stopped quickly, raising his hands in an effort to show his harmlessness. "Eurick," He called calmly, "you got me into this. Think you can lend me a hand?"

"That's Tor," Eurick yelled over the dragon's growling, jumping off her back to stand beside his tutor.
"Tor, it's pretty bad. Three arrows to the shoulder. He's lucky they didn't hit his heart." He explained quickly, glancing up at the dragon as he led Tor to the wounded rider.
That was when he noticed the Glass woman, hovering over the rider, her hand outstretched as if to prod the rider's wounds.
"Hey you, get away from there!" He yelled waving his arms at the creature.
The woman looked up and screamed, but didn't move away.

Saphira's growl turned in to a roar and that was when she snapped at Jaw closed on the glass thing that was near her Rider after it had started to scream. She ended up though spitting out what was left of the glass thing "what was that thing about to do to my Rider" Saphira has both humans angrily. Her sapphire blue eyes were glowing with the anger and concern she held for her Rider as she lowed her head to look at Eurick for the answer to her question. The thing was his and yet it had gonenear her Rider without his knowing. Saphira had one of her big blue eyes one Eurick waiting for his answer and not going to let him go anywhere without answering it. Eragon was starting to breath like he had a fever or something and with saphira being so concerned that she noticed it. Her own wounds she would be fine with being check on after her rider. It was hard not to be angry at the one who made that Glass thing and the fact that the thing had been near her Rider. But before long, she realized something and that was that her Rider's eyes were half open. Eragon just stared at the ocean as he thought he hear Saphira talking to someone and didn't know what to think. He was so confused and in so much pain, that he was just staring at the water in front of him without saying a word "Little one, your in pain" said Saphira as she saw Eragons eyes slowly close again. His pain was pulling him back in to the darkness that had taken him before and he felt so tired, before long he was out cold again.
